              ALDI has just emailed me to say I can buy fresh haggis from them @ £2.18 per kilo or tinned @ £3.04 per kilo, a tin of Cullen Skink (?) for £1.90 and Fraoch Heather Ale for £1.49/500ml


              ...... but only on Sunday

                  If you like fishy soups you might also fancy Partan Bree -
                  Partan Bree is Scottish crab soup. You need 1 large crab, or 1/2 pound of crabmeat (frozen or canned.) Lobster may be used instead. The crab is cooked first, and the meat cleaned off it, with the white claw meat keep separate. The meat is set aside. Rice is then boiled in milk until tender.

                    And LIDL are offering Kilts for £29.99, Sporrans for £9.99, Ghillie Shiirts for £11.99, Kilt Socks for £3.99 and tartan covered Hip Flasks for £5.99.

                          Just been reading about your rellies in Dan Jones's The Plantaganets, BBM. Crikey!

                          I knew Lidl were discounters but it's going to be a pretty skimpy kilt for £29. Acrylic tablecloth more like. A similar outfit from Messrs Kinloch Anderson or similar would set you back £500-600

                            As you might expect there's been a lot of comment about Lidl's kilt hereabouts. As you say, rather skimpy, acrylic & made in China. Suitable for fancy dress possibly but I don't think it would stand up to a Dashing White Sargeant or two

                              I absolutely love cullen skink - but to me it's a special occasion soup as it's so rich with all the cream, a meal in itself. I've just been to Lidl (for their single estate 70% Ecuadorian chocolate!) and not a single dress-up-like-a-Scotsman item was to be seen. There are a couple of pubs here offering a Burns Night - one has 5 courses for £15, but they haven't posted their menus.

                                I see some pubs are celebrating 'Burns' Week'. Is this commercial inflation?
