clive heath
have just caught up with the post christmas posts..... and responding to #159:
the son and heir having moved to Hexham and after a rain-sodden walk partly adjacent a moderately swollen Tyne, the daughter and son-in-law suggested a pint in the nearest ...which turned out to be in a pub of the Theakston chain which had an unfamiliar brew "Lightfoot", apparently a special earlier in the year but so popular after distribution that it has gained permanent status. I found it very pleasant and look forward to my next Northumberland trip. Back in the area where I grew up , there was a pump labelled "Corvus" in ( which I already knew why :O-level Latin or "Volpone" (Corin Redgrave at the Old Vic)) a pub called "The Raven", excellent food . This particular beer is brewed by Wadworths, whose pub it is, which made me wonder whether any other pubs have brews dedicated to them by the local brewer.

May I draw the attention of ale appreciators within range of the Cotswolds to this microbrewery started by friends of my sister, Corinium Ales, with Roman-inspired names.
You have to love the name "Ale Caesar". Delicious too, apparently.
And they have just launched a new, lighter brew: "Caligulager""...the isle is full of noises,
