    .

... mainly I like to drink with meals : most of the food I like doesn't go particularly well with beer (altho' the occasional Indian meal is a welcome experience). Hence wine rather than beer is what I want.

If ever I drink beer it's as a thirst-quencher in hot weather.

    Antisocial, I loathe pubs.

So not much interest here. As a Wiltshire lad I remain loyal to Wadworth's; I have also enjoyed Belgian (dubbel or tripel or chimay) and Polish (zywiec) and Indian and Thai and Fijian. But as thirst quenchers rather than as interesting drinks...

Without unduly prolonging it, there is a definite mismatch between people somewhere along the lines in today's "world".

Personally, I wouldn't find it at all helpful if this forum was Skyped as I find the appearance of people mainly irrelevant or a distraction. Of more importance to me is the picture of their character or even aura. But I would prefer it if I could hear people's actual voices. The worst thing about the internet is that it isn't telephone conversation. That can take place with other people on occasions but only about everything one already knows. In the pub, you hear a lot of voices and there is occasional conversation - chit-chat at best and often far worse. I am not sure that conversation about music, the arts and other areas of educational interest is most naturally without sound but I suppose it is the best that we or anyone can do.

I would say rare but does happen once in a while.

Currently sipping an Alcohol-free Punk IPA. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference, really. I'm not hungry, but also munching on Walkers Thai Sweet Chilli Nuts, because they complement the beer. Also Bach Harpsichord concertos are on.

Did have some sweet chilli nuts left the other day, but the bloody cats got at the last of them, so they had to go in the bin.

Buds here, but younger son has a weakness for american beer.

Even if it is probably brewed in Burton.

Que? As in peed on them? Which, in my prejudiced view would be an appropriate feline meta-comment on those travesties of nuts.

A lot of Sharp’s beer is brewed in Burton these days - they have one or two half-decent brews but Doom Bar is rather bland compared to many of the excellent brews available - Skinners ‘Penny Come Quick’ has been my choice in the village pub recently! Don’t know if it goes with nuts though but justvin case I’ll beware of cats.

Jingle Knocker is the golden ale of the season in these parts:

Little else in The Old Ale House, Truro would divert me from large white jugs of the Lay Vicars’ preferred thirst quencher & larynx extinguisher:

                            Porthleven - Untameable Pale Ale.

Both excellent, but maybe need to check the number of Jingle Knockers quaffed in one session!
