If you drive a Rolls, everyone will assume you are a chauffeur. This may not matter if your self-esteem is - as I'm sure it is - watertight : but it can lead to confusion with the staff at restaurants and hôtels, which can be a bore.

Bentleys don't seem to have this problem; gentlemen can drive Bentleys.

The wealthiest of the people I can really call friends* (tho' he introduced me to serious claret drinking, which is nice but stretches the wallet of impoverished gentry such as we... ) - altho' he likes his convertible Jaguars and such-like - normally drives a clapped-out Renault 15 - which he likes for its anonymity...
