Only ever ate home-made Junkets but they seem to have disappeared from modern diets.

I thought at first that that was a multi-pack for a week (like the little packets you got at now-banished breakfast buffets), so inordinately expensive, but then realised that each pack is 375g.

You'd think at that price they'd waive postage, but no, you have to pay an extra £4.26 to have it delivered, so it actually works out at £1003.26 per 375g

Well, Morrison's appear to have discontinued their Bavarian Smoked Cheese.

And Sainsbury's version of the same thing - German Smoked Cheese - they're now calling 'Beechwood' Smoked Cheese!

Still, I suppose I should be happy they're at least still selling it...

Aldi sell Bavarian smoked cheese - they are a German company. (and their jams are pretty good, for a supermarket).

On Fairy washing up liquid - not a food, but related:
Their latest (smaller) bottles of "original" are not the same as the original "original". They now contain methyl-iso-thiozo-linone, a substance, a fungicide I think, banned completely in Canada, and banned in Europe for anything like cosmetics where it stays in contact with your skin, but approved for temporary contact.
On looking at the contents of other brands and strengths, (in Tesco) I found also that the Tesco brand contained this fungicide, but the 2X and 3X Fairy bottles do not, for now at least.
When I took back my purchase of Fairy Original, complaining that it was not original because it now contained the banned substance, the Customer Service lady gave me a funny look, and the man behind me in the queue said "amazing what you learn".

When I asked if this was a result of Brexit they claimed that the warehouse had had their computer hacked. Not sure I can believe this and it seems to me to be an agreed line to take should anyone be cheeky enough to ask the question.

Interesting link. No mention of UK supermarkets but I assume from the report that it will most likely have an effect here as well. No mention of wine in the report though and I've not noticed any cheese disruption at our local Waitrose.

I was concerned last year when production of Bath Oliver biscuits was stopped. Thankfully it appears that was temporary and I recently bought some in a Waitrose Click and Collect order.

M&S used to do a chocolate Swiss roll, it was my absolute favourite cake. I haven't seen one in the shops since the late 80s.

Phineas Fogg's Mignons morceaux - mini garlic bread crispy snacks.

There was also a delicious range of tinned soups available in the early 1990s - clam chowder, chicken curry - can't remember who made them but they were readily available in Tesco etc - better than your average soup. I wonder if anyone else can remember them more precisely?

Last night we had vegetable soup with Griesnockerl (semolina dumplings) as a main course. In UK we don't seem to use semolina in savoury dishes - apart from couscous. I remember my mother's sweet semolina puddings, also a school dinner regular. I haven't eaten it for ages.
