Jenever is drunk neat of course, but the point of the G&T is not that the alcohol is diluted - it's the refreshing quality of the relatively large amount of liquid involved! In hot weather I can drink them all day, or until I can't hold a glass any more, whichever comes first.
Jenever isn't drunk for refreshment, but for stimulation; that would be the major difference, plus the season. It is best consumed very chilled on a winter's morning after the first walk of the day (or at other times one is very chilled). For refreshment God invented beer! (For the digestion, wine, according to St. Paul).
I should have added to my remark about ice that pollution is one of the great global scourges of our time and that adding a little unfiltered tap water to a fine single malt is a particularly heinous example thereof.
