    Gin Lane!

OK - we've got Beer and Whisky. Now for Gin!

Silent Pools - a smallish distillery in Surrey has some good regular gin - about £35 a bottle from the distillery. They also do a premium bottle - around £20 for a half size bottle, though currently out of stock of that, though there is a farm shop in Abinger Hammer which had supplies yesterday.

Apparently the special stuff changes on each batch, as the volume production also depends on the major clients.

distillers of premium gin, vodka and other spirits, distillery tours, onsite shop and bar

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&k...l_7w1t6jh4c7_e - slightly more for ordering from amazon

http://www.kingfisherfarmshop.com/Site/Home.html Farm shop with recent supplies. Prices the same as the distillery.

For me its the things that can be added to it, rather than the spirit itself, that I drink it for: orange juice, tomato juice, vermouths, bitters etc. (Same goes for vodka).

How about a small dash of spring water - The Lakes Gin is superb with just that.

      OG

      P.S. They also make Vodka

Gin and Dubonnet - HM is quite partial to it - allegedly.

I keep a bottle in the pantry in case anyone wants a G&T, but it hasnt been touched for ages. I never drink it, I prefer vodka mixes. I once made some sloe gin, but reckoned it was waste of a good spirit.

... don't often use gin nowadays : when needed probably wd be Tanqueray's.

Have fond memories from postings overseas of the 'export' yellow label Gordon;s (at 47.3% - not to be confused with the UK green-bottled stuff at 37.5%).

There seems to be a trend for gins now - here in Hammersmith they are well proud of Sipsmith's...

Sipsmith Gin - the home of outrageously good gin, cocktail ginspiration, Distillery information, online Gin shop and more.

            (m'self, don't quite get the fuss... )

I'm a bit baffled as to why you would add anything with a different, distinctive flavour, unless you value it only for the alcohol content and aren't very keen on the taste??
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

What a coincidence! I have just this moment opened a bottle of gin! Mrs Oven is quite partial to a G&T, so I wasn't thinking of myself here. I'm on my second double G&T as I type. If there's any left, I'm sure Mrs Oven will also partake.

It's a bit quaffable, I need to pace myself. It's a £9.99 bottle of 'Oliver Cromwell London Dry' from Aldi (the Hatfield branch a la Caliban fame).

But before you laugh too much at this chav-brand, you must know that it came out on top of other gins of over £100 in a recent blind test!! https://www.facebook.com/permalink.p...95493360483917
