I hope you enjoyed your visit mangerton! Did you have a pint in The Anchor Bleu, by any chance? And I hope that if you came by car it didn't get submerged by the rising tide, a common occurence for visitors who park on the Shore Road.

And it is of course pronounced "Bozzum". When I was at primary school over in East Sussex we came over to visit my Gran during the hols, who lived here for most of her life. At the start of the new term we had to do one of those "what I did in my holidays" things, and I had great difficulty persuading my class teacher that the SH was indeed pronounced as a Z.

Great pics, P - specially the third, which one infers was by you... amazing colours.

Is there still a rather spiffing (mangerton's got me going with his PGW reference)... a rather spiffing restaurant called 'No 36 on the Quay' ?

Oh yes! Emsworth, not Bosham, I was getting confused - it's 20 years since I was there. Memorable meal

I did, thanks, although lunch that day was pint-free. I'm pleased to report that my car was not submerged. I read about the possibility before going, and took care. I had had sufficient in the way of mishaps the previous day when I carelessly lost my mobile phone. (As PGW has been mentioned, you'll find that story "elsewhere in the archives". )

Beautiful though many of these photographs are, am I alone in missing the changing drama of the sunset? To me it's a process leading to an instant ... and then it's gone for another day.

There is that, ami; but what these photos capture for me is that breath-catching moment when you come out of doors and see a sunset in mid-glory. It's a quite unique feeling of awe mixed with joy and a pinch of melancholy that the photos evoke.

Yes... or coming round a corner on a car journey, and being confronted with ...

If you were driving West, wouldn't the sunset be in front of you?

Maybe it was the dawn, 8tho? Coz the rear-view mirror would in theory have been pointing east, no?
