SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!

Intriguing to see Martha Argerich and Al Pacino in the same photo...

The Eagles and James Taylor also at the party, the ceremony yesterday for Kennedy Center Honorees...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

No prizes for this one - but it's such a nice picture that is not well known. He's about 18 - in between Eton and Trinity, Oxford.

Ah m-m-m-m-mercia! Good to see posts from you (is it me, or had they become somewhat rare? )

Well the obvious moustachio'd conductor associated with the object in question would be Sir Henry Wood.... but I too can't see that little fellow as Sir HW! The moustache might be similar but even in holiday mode I can't imagine him dressing like an aging Neapolitan lothario (or shaving off his beard). I agree with ferney's guess, looks to me like one of those minor Italian verismo chaps.
