We generally prefer to be anonymous on the board. A few have, from time to time, used pictures of themselves for avatars.

There's no way I'm going to post a photo of me, but the following cartoon was drawn on a blackboard by a member of my form/tutor group in the early 1980s. I look more like this now than I did at the time.

I'm sorely tempted, as from where I sit I can see a portrait of me on the settee (portrait on the settee, not me), drawn by my niece. However, I think I shall resist as she was only 10 at the time and it isn't a good likeness :-)

Because a blackboard is black, and needs to be drawn upon in chalk of some other colour than black, if the drawing is to be visible.

(I did wonder if what we had here was a brave defiance of the political correctness which, we are told, inhibits us from using blackboard even for boards that are incontrovertibly black.)

It was drawn on a blackboard, with chalk. I then photographed it and reversed it. The really scary thing is that the girl who drew is now 46.

Quite a while back, in CA, USA some newspapers had filters which replaced all instances of "black" by "African American". This could lead to sentences such as
"The wall was painted in several colors, blue, African American and red"! I can't remember exactly what sentence it was that looked really odd.

Ah - think I've almost got it - something like the "the finances of the company have improved recently and are now moving firmly into the African American"!
