What was happening in Paris then? Something I missed? Did Hollande resign or something?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
Totally agree, Nigel is the best ref (he's also very funny if you ever catch him on the Jonathan Davies show, he's good at stand-up)
Paris was a thriller, I nearly fell off the sofa 32 seconds in - and what an exciting climax!!
Indeed. I saw both games in a Dundee hostelry in the company of a number of colleagues. One English colleague became most vociferous at the outbreak of cheering which accompanied France's late try.

Yes good refereeing - though I did wonder, when he was lecturing new boy Jules Clisson (around 19 mins in) whether the young Frenchman could understand a single word in that Welsh accent! I could only get 1 in 3 words!

Indeed they did, and should not be underestimated as year by year they improve so much. Wales were, quite frankly, rubbish, if they don't get it together then next weekend could be a repeat of the last encounter with Ireland. (I am not of the opinion that Wales will triumph, my money is on the French at the moment)
We shall see how Scotland fare this afternoon and whether Ireland have regained their form but I don't think firm opinions can be formed until after round two.
Edit: I don't think Nigel Owens has a particularly strong Welsh accent, it's no more than a slight lilt

Reason: defending Nigel Owens diction

Need to adjust the sound on me telly then!
Still think Jules might have been struggling with what he was being told - though I imagine he understood without!

Agreed, Anna Italy played well. I don't hold much hope for another Welsh success in this year's competition, but maybe this early lesson will wake them up!!
As for NO's accent, he is from Llanelli!! Some would say that's too close to Pembroke to be really Welsh!! Well i mi cuddio rwan!
In spite of Caliban's rude remarks, it's well known by the cognoscenti that the Scots and Welsh don't have any accent at all.
Indeed, that is so! It's the English that talk funny.
(Nigel Owens is also a Gorsedd Bard, his Bardic name is Dyfarnwr y Mynydd) Now, shall we settle down and watch the match?

Don't care about the accents, but how slovenly the whole BBC team look. All of them, even John Inverdale, who I've always liked and respected, have jackets, conventional shirts and no ties! They might as well wear string vests and sport stubble like Rab C.
Lord Reith must be revolving quite well at the moment.
