My Memory currently have a Black Friday promotion on which offers a free 16GB micro SDHC card (around £6 on ebay or Amazon) with all orders over £20. Since many items over that price are already quite heavily discounted, it might be worth a perusal of their site. I have placed separate orders for a 12V to mains inverter, and a set of four remote controlled mains sockets.

Indeed, they are very good, and £10 cheaper than last year. Fine for use with headphones, but I have found interference problems when trying to feed a HiFi system through them.

Actually probably it wasn't. The price has gone up to a tad under £100 - instead of around £75, but it's still a subscription model purchase. I use Affinity Photo quite extensively which seems to do most of what I need, and it's not a continuing license to fleece me. There are other tools which are cheaper than Lightroom or even free - such as GIMP. For occasional use if it's really that important Lightroom can be '"rented" for about £10 each month. I know that some photographers are prepared to pay for the CC model, but the "lock in" model which some software vendors such as Adobe are trying to push doesn't hold too many attractions for me.

            I didn't bother.

Thanks for this pointer AmpH - I duly ordered and took delivery this afternoon. A huge improvement on my PC sound for relatively little dosh, terrific value. Only problem is, now I feel the need to upgrade my headphones...

There's an extension of the free trial period of Kindle Unlimited (Amazon UK) today up to 2nd January.
The trial lasts for three (3) months.

Fine for anyone who can read fast enough to make it worthwhie I'm not sure if all the Kindle books are included in Kindle Unlimited.

I have got mine working now with my MacBook Pro. So far I'm not sure that it's a big improvement (if at all - my DAC is probably still better, but not portable) over other options I have, but it probably depends on the source material. At £39 it seems reasonable though, and it should work with high res material - if I have any. So far I've only tried in the Class 1 mode, though the recommended mode is Class 2 to enable higher resolution source material.

Obviously I'm losing it. Took me a few minutes to realise that it shuts off any on screen volume control, and the only volume controls are on the unit. For £39 not a bad buy, though I'd have been disappointed at the original higher price.

Some high res material for test purposes is available from here - http://www.2l.no/hires/

Kindle book today (Tuesday 9th) - The Idiot Brain for 99p, Author is Dean Burnett. Seems a good book for the money.

Does anyone else monitor the Kindle daily book offers? Yesterday there was a slightly more expensive book (£1.99) by Stephen Pinker - while today there's
The English and their History by Robert Tombs for 99p.

Cheaper than a cup of coffee in Starbucks.

Possibly of interest to whisky people - 25% off some bottles at am.uk today. I don't know which ones are any good.

Just wonder if you found it doesn't work with Qobuz. I tried mine this afternoon and it repeatedly would not give any output when connected to the Qobuz player. However it's not the hardware, as it works with Amazon Unlimited OK as well as Final Cut Pro X.

I bought a piston engine the other day - I didn't need it but, it was a bargain.

Not tried it on anything except my hard drive files yet - I don't have a Qobuz account, I'm afraid, so can't help there.

I hesitate to mention it, and I'm not even sure if the price is really good, but Amazon have MS 365 today for £52.99 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-O...VYZE4K4H0MJTN4

This is one of the Daily Deals - so only valid today - Friday.

I'm not a wild fan of MS, nor of subscription models, though sometimes I find that only MS software will do. I'd also be concerned that installing this would mess up my Office 2011 - though it probably won't. I do find that Excel is the MS package I use most.

Presumably this would work with my iPad too - which could be a useful thing to have. What do others think?

I can probably live without it, and if I really "needed" it I could get it later, or wait for another offer.

It's probably a slightly better deal for PC users, as it includes Access for those who use, or know how to use it.
Looks like about a 30% reduction against other sellers.
