I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has preserved any of Abbado's LSO concerts during his tenure.

Lovely and moving rendition this evening of the funeral march from the Eroica by the La Scala orchestra, conducted by Daniel Barenboim on stage at the theatre: auditorium empty, doors open, a large crowd outside. As has been done for all their MDs since Toscanini I believe.Comment

Just as a matter of interest, did Abbado conduct much British music? Doesn't seem to be any Britten, Vaughan Williams, Elgar - or even Holst's Planets, in his discography at any rate. Seems a bit strange for someone who was conductor of the LSO for so long.Comment

I saw him conduct a lovely performance Of Britten's serenade for Tenor, horn ect with the Berlin Phil. in Cologne a few years ago. It was televised here in Germany at a later date, so I have a momento of the concert.Comment
