Well known for his 'Colemanballs' gaffes he was something better than just a sports reporter as his excellent coverage of the 1972 Munich Olympics tragedy demonstrated. I'll remember that more than anything else about him.

Sportsnight with Coleman....a treat at a young age, which had to be earned.
For some reason particularly seem to recall a late night wait for highlights of a Derby V Juventus(?) European cup semi final in the early 70's.
And I liked his psycho babble free commentaries.
