Apparently a character called Morpheus in The Matrix films wears pince-nez glasses.

I haven't seen pince-nez type spectacles since the 1960s. Back then it used to be common to witness rich ladies donning them, or lorgnettes, to view pictures at art exhibitions from close quarters, sometimes with an accompanying remark such as "It would look nice over the fireplace, wouldn't it, Ferdinand"

I don't associate this with anything on any current forum agenda so it goes in here:

In 1944, to honor the Allied victory in Italy, legendary counductor Arturo Toscanini--a refugee from Fascisim in his home country--decided to conduct a perf...

            Hindquarters are a wonderful thing.

Inspired by Nadhim Sahawi's repeated use of the infamous get-out cliché on the lunchtime news.

The best spoonerism I've heard in a long time - just now on a TV chat show. It couldn't be deliberate!
I just wonder how many viewers noticed it.

OK, you can all go back to whatever you were doing!

Read about 10 year olds in 1955 ringing the bell of St Andrews Stockwell and being chased by Father Shipley. Father Shipley and Father Northcott were jolly good eggs especially when my friend Fred and I received our choirboy pay from them every month - 2/6.

Ah, that would be Gradus ad Parnassum, then.

                            "Object!"

                            (Should that be "Boject?")

Maybe we should ask Brian Priestley!
