    Errm, no, not necessarily. I once went to a performance of "The Dream", and I must say I've spent many a better night with toothache.

    Elgar should also be held accountable for "The Banner of St George", and "From the Bavarian Highlands" (Words by Mrs E.). I was in a choir which was asked by Radio 3 to record these with the BBC SSO, and again toothache came to mind.

      Rather unfair to single out SAD for this (even if it is true (debatable)) when there are so many others who would fit this post perfectly, including some revered for their work in the English repertoire that he does pretty darn well, recent VW9 and Holst Choral being but two examples.
