Sorry isn't really a big enough word, looking at the scorecard..

Too late to take any extra precautions with this weeks laundry.....

England really should give Lords a swerve.....

Rather they should prepare a decent cricket wicket, which would have given them a chance. Instead they prepared a flat pitch and hoped to win the toss. Cardiff was a splendid performance, but I do wonder how things would have gone if Australia had won the toss there as well.

Apols for OT, but I wonder if anyone else finds that the otherwise great BBC Sport app only selectively provides TMS, and defaults to County games for no apparent reason during lunch and tea. Grr and again grr. I note that there's a TMS channel on youtube btw. V good.

Equally so Historian one wonders how this match would have gone had England won the toss .

In general, it is hard to blame the toss for the kind of pasting England are getting in this match.

just looked up wiki on this, and was a bit surprised at how little difference the toss makes to outcomes.

Not sure I would agree with that . It so much depends on the nature of the pitch . This is a flat belter for Lords on the first two days and I suspect England would also have made a big score .

they had their chance on what still looks a decent batting track, and scored 312. Well below par.
Winning the toss would have helped England, but the difference of the better part of 250 ( after a declaration) is down to the teams I suggest.

That ignores the psychological effects of batting second after a massive score .Look at the Aussies in Cardiff . The real idiocy is preparing a pitch that will do nothing for Jimmy Anderson .

I agree about Anderson. If you want to prepare pitches in your favour, do it in a positive way,and Anderson is a match winner.

Yes,tough to follow a massive score, but 312 on a " belter" is way , way under par even so.
