Great to hear from you via the usual channels, ma'am

MRIs are a doddle so don't fret too much - a modicum of fretting is only natural, of course, ahem!

saly, how nice to see your name on the board again and thanks to the"usual channels" for making it possible. Had an MRI last winter. It was easy peasy though I did a bit of fretting beforehand. I'm sure yours will go well.

Saly, lovely to hear from you. I've never had a MRI but I understand as it's noisy you wear headphones and can choose your favourite music to listen to, so ...... prepare one of your "Top Eight" lists for the radiographers!!

Hello Saly! How nice to see your name and (sort of) hear your voice. I've never had an MRI, but I suppose we should be grateful that such things exist. It will soon pass!

MRI = laying about listening to a bit of music in my experience (several times)....Anyway it means they have to use a magic machine to see if there is anything wrong with....meaning, at least you don't look wonky from the outside....

as we all know the machine contains a huge powerful magnet so it is very important to tell the technicians if you contain any metal (in which case you cannot be scanned)
I don't think (teeth) fillings count

                        Hello saly,

I had an MRI scan in about 2000. They made it sound fussy but really it wasn't anything except Do As You're Told. I seem to remember it took a bit of time with all the fiddling but you just have to keep still.

And you mustn't have anything metallic, just like when you go through security scanners. I remember one occasion when I had to open a waist bag and was embarrassed at having to produce a Swiss Army knife, my Russian railwayman's watch and a mouth organ ... Do not take any of these items to the hospital.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

possibly worse than that (I'll leave it to your imagination)
it probably breaks the machine too

It is wonderful to see your name on the forum (many thanks to ‘the usual channels’), just like a cuckoo in spring .

Apparently, it’s quite noisy. Ask for earplugs. I’m sure you’ve got more than enough music in your own head to last an hour or so easily.

                            All the best
