    Dear salymap

I hear you are on the third floor of QM, so there is no worry about flooding!! In a way I am glad that you haven’t been alone in the house through this weather. You’d have hated it. However, that’s no reason to be sitting around where you are once spring arrives, which is not too long. So make sure to do a lot of exercise and think about another list.

Saly, I'm so glad you've been moved to QM and also that you are enjoying the food there. Please make sure you give them your recipe for braised steak! As doversould says, you wouldn't have enjoyed being at home during this awful wet and windy weather, it's not been pleasant (to put it mildly) So, do as you're told by the physios, and hopefully we'll see you back home soon.

Beautiful spring day here oop north! I hope you can get to an open window saly, to hear the birds singing and see the buds bursting to open. In spite of the awful recent weather we can now dare to feel optimistic.

Greetings, saly! You must be feeling somewhat euphoric and possibly thinking of Harry Lauder as you hum along to 'Keep right on to the end of the road'! Anyhow, my thoughts were with you today as I enjoyed compiling a CD-R for you to enjoy in your own home.

I'd recorded the Building a Library choice for RVW's Sym 9; Royal Liverpool P.O./Vernon Handley but, even with the usual intro it only runs for 35 mins.

Part of the enjoyment in recording is the fun in determining the fill-up programming. Donald McLeod pointed me in the right direction with the inclusion of Mahler's Ruckert Lieder - Janet baker and Kathleen Ferrier already on my shelves - but I took a shine to Anne Sophie Von Otter's performance, selected for COTW. I recall being impressed by V.O. at her Wigmore Hall recital, early 90s - a pencil slim figure to match a radiant voice. voice. Distinction and refinement throughout, particularly in Um Mitternacht.

I also opted for V.O in French chansons to conclude. Much charm and the right 'flavour' for Trenet in Douce France and Boum!, Hahn, Chanson d'automne, and Lenoir, Parlez-moi d'amour. I can already imagine you skipping around the garden with pleasure after hearing this - soon, please!

                Salymap,

Am hoping you get to see all our messages. I do wish you could talk to us. What would you like most right now & tell us.
As you already know there is a vast crowd of well-wishers awaiting your return. Hospital progress is slow, especially with orthopaedic departments & we, the more mature cannot rush the progress of the process. Through reliving my life with odd memories from the past I feel I am making many new friends by sharing these experiences. In fact, I'm beginning to feel useful, even younger, again.
Amongst all the others expectantly awaiting your return,

And from the front of the queue,

                Waiting patiently,

                gamba

I am another admirer of Salymap and am wondering whether we might expect an update on her recovery soon.

No update, but of course she isn't forgotten.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

SA, I haven't been gone at all! I'm more of a reader than a contributor. But I'm here every day, reading to learn. I am enormously appreciative of the Forum and fascinated with the interplay among its members. Thanks for your welcome. Oh, I do hope that Salymap will be able to return to her computer and to us!

                          Hello Estelle,

It's nice to know that our West Coast representative is still here. I, also, hope that salymap will return to us.

All the best from the East Coast,

                              Message from salymap

                              Salymap’s message via Jenny
I read her all the MB messages though over the weekend, and she did enjoy Gamba’s story with the harpsichords. Please do pass on her best wishes to him especially,

salymap is back at home but currently not online but this is Jenny’s comment.
Lovely sunny weekend though, so I was pleased that she could look out the window into the garden. Makes a better view than Woolwich or rooftops in Sidcup!
