Yes Spring is not that far away....lets have deadline for skipping around a Maypole at the very least. Really glad progress is being made by you Salymap....it's good news....This is the hardest part of the year for all, when we are all a bit low, so more power to you for struggling through it....(me, I'm slushing around in a 8" porridge of peat and muck 3 times a day with the dogs, using muscles my body had forgotten about)....best wishes tim

Agree, Sidcup is a pleasant place to be and the weather is, well, I'm not quite sure; but it will be improving - like you!

It's still daylight til about 17:10 these days saly, a sure sign that Winter is in retreat. Green bulb shoots are popping up all over & I got a very nice £5s-worth of bulbs from PoundLand for the Summer yay! Let's hope you'll be back amongst us long before my Summer bulbs are up

I'm very glad to hear the good news about saly's move to a place that's closer to home. Not too many signs of spring here (though days are getting longer). We're having a week of snowy/sleety weather, though today was quite beautiful with sun and glittery snow. I did see a snow drop near the south side of the house...poor thing is buried in snow just now. Phil, the Punxsutawny Groundhog, saw his shadow on Feb 2nd, which, by tradition, means 6 more weeks of wintery weather.

This is excellent news. It's onwards and upwards from now on! It's getting lighter each evening I leave work now (at 17.15) and another 10 days should see near enough to full daylight at that time. Makes it easier to see the cyclists riding on the pavements without lights .

You could try telling them about the £500 fine (and then receive a barrage of verbal abuse.) it's the fact that they are the ones who are wearing the helmets that gets me.

Salymap, that's the best news ever that you are being moved to rehabilitation:
Oh to be in Sidcup, now that Saly's there
Do what the physio tells you (no malingering) and hopefully we'll have you home when Spring finally has sprung!

Ever tried cycling on a road with HGVs thundering up behind you, or white van man passing with 6 inches to spare (if youre lucky)?

Perhaps if the roads were made safer and there was less harassment of cyclists by motorists, as well as proper cycle infrastructure (a la the rest of Europe) this would be less of an issue; or is that too much commonsense?

Won't that be wonderful? Sooner rather than later, I hope.

I agree, but there are major problems in the UK. I don't think too many motorists actually do harrass motorists, but even a few is sufficient to be problematic.

I don't think all the rest of Europe does have a proper cycle infrastructure, but some parts of it have something better than the UK.

We went to Amsterdam a few years ago, and frankly, as pedestrians it was horrendous - bikes always seem to assume priority. The Netherlands is often quoted as being good for bikes - which it may be, but at a disadvantage to others.

The latest and very good news:

She is getting stronger each day, prefers the food in QM, and the ward is much brighter and nicer than in the other hospital so I hope this will help.
She needs to get more mobile now and then hopefully we will be on the ‘home stretch’

                                And as for our messages:
She is reading them herself now, so definitely an improvement there.
