Perhaps you could start another thread with this stuff as someof us are very pleased to see gamba back and this is not anything to do with his post.

Dear Sir Loin, if I may address you as such,

I have fully digested Ulysses, persevered until one third through Finegan's Wake, but am still unable to decipher your strange language. The fault undoubtedly lies with me, having little knowledge of the age in which I now find myself. I have a son, the youngest of three, who is guitarist with a strange group of people known as ' Voodoo Six.' They have for the last 2 -3 months been all over Europe acting as a ' support ' group for other strange people calling themselves ' Iron Maiden,' a perfectly horrifying title to anyone with even a vestige of historical knowledge.

They are now, apparently, going out on their own, as many in the audience regarded them as BETTER than ' Iron Maiden.'

Would you, b o, ( short for beef oven - nothing personal, at least not without meeting you personally ! ) recommend a career based upon producing noise. Can one study for a degree in this matter ? Wherein lies his future ?

Your advice will be gratefully received, gamba,

( father to Matt of Voodoo Six )

              This might help ?

as might Paul Hegarty's book ........... (though much of this makes Iron Maiden sound like André Rieu )

In your parlance Sir, I'm sure you will be hoping your son gives up these pins and dolls, and quickly becomes a very very sound engineer....

I was going to reply, but I see that Salymap does not approve, so I'll say instead that I'm pleased your appointment was bumped up the queue on account of the shared appreciation of dead, white, European men with your aye surgeon.

I agree with the audience. Although this stuff isn't for me, they are better than Iron Maiden!

Just read your initial post on this, Gamba and what a post! Indeed, I find it most heartening at times to get chatting to like minded people! I was chatting to some bin men and one of them was rather interested in classical music!
