            Re my last:

If people aren't counting Bach and Beethoven in their eight, I'll add Mendelssohn (or Chopin) and Janaahchek
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Ha-ha! You fell into my trap - there is of course no-one more interesting than Bach, Shakespeare and Beethoven!

                    That's a tough one.
Yes they just have the edge over Supertramp probably.
I could live without Bach,Beethoven and Supertramp.

I wondered if anyone would mention Chopin. I'll add Chopin to my eight, but I don't particularly want Beethoven as a given. I accept that he's a great composer, but I could live without him.

I find these lists fascinating. Some composers who appear quite often don't interest me at all, and one or two I've never even heard of.

Later: editing to add Haydn. I'm only aware of one way of pronouncing his name, and have no idea whether it's correct or not. Didn't know there was any discussion. Hide-n. Is that wrong?

Is that a statement of fact ? or opinion masquerading as fact ? (i'm sure you know what that means )
