    Change!

I hope it is not considered too 'political' if I link to this petition. Is this the way we want people to be treated in this country?

    Outrageous and sadly predictable

(the last time I said what I really felt about this it resulted in a load of anger from predictable places BUT all one can add is that Cameron seems to sadly disprove the thesis that personal experience results in greater empathy )

I do not know whether you know the family involved but this decision strikes me as very possibly unlawful . It is unclear under what nature of occupancy agreement James occupies the property but there should have been a full community care assessment of his needs before a change in the accommodation with which he is provided is contemplated - the mere fact that Oxfordshire is short of cash does not mean that services can be withdrawn without there being such an assessment .

The placement of two individuals in one house might also have been carried out with the grant of some form of tenancy agreement , with a deputy under the Court of Protection , and a person cannot simply be evicted from their home without a possession order and the making of a possession order would be subject to consideration of its proportionality under Article 8 ECHR and as the young man in question is evidently disabled there should have been proper consideration of the public sector equality duty under Section 149 Equality Act 2010 . The family would be well advised to take specialist advice from housing and community care solicitors and as it is the applicant whose means are to be considered he may well be entitled to legal aid .

Indeed, from watching Morse one might wrongly assume a place such as Oxford to be brim full of lawyers with specialist knowledge in the area under consideration.

I look forward to the day when our governments, (of ANY kind) start trying to make life better for the vast majority, instead of threatening to make it less bad than it would be under the other lot.
And stop spending money on nonsense wars and so on, , and start spending it where it is needed, for people like James.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

                  Duly signed and forwarded.

This crew seem to determined to kick the weakest members of society whilst allowing big companies like Boots to avoid tax to the tune of £1.1 billion. (Today's Times).

Me too...and unfortunately I hear of the like happening in more and more parts of our Fair* Country.

                        * That's 'fair' as determined by IDS and his cronies!

I don't know them. The request to sign the petition simply dropped into my inbox, having previously signed other petitions hosted by change.org. I don't subscribe to any of the popular social networking spyware systems so thought it might be helpful to link to it here.
