Morning all.
After many years of forking out extortionate sums of money for multi-blade shaving cartridges, a few months ago I took the plunge and bought myself an Edwin Jagger double-edged safety razor. After some experimentation with blades and creams, I am now getting better shaves than I have ever had, my skin feels better, and I start the day with a pleasurable ritual rather than an annoying chore.
A wash with Portugese Musgo pre-shave soap, lather up with Proraso shave cream- a lovely Italian product, applied with a boar hair brush, and then to finish Proraso post-shave cream which gives the face a lovely mentholy zing. After all that I feel more than ready to face the day. It takes a little longer than the squirty aerosol foam and multi-blade shaver, but by golly the difference is worth it.
And the clincher is that I got over two years worth of excellent quality Gillette blades from Amazon for 13 quid, which is about the price of a pack of 4 of those ridiculous rip-off cartridges. One blade lasts about a week, and I got 120 for that sum.
