You're obviously not wearing enough vertical stripes

I suppose it also depends upon how far below the nipple Sir wears his trouser...

And one needn't be asked which side one dresses

Sir's trousers show a strong inclination to render such measurements distinctly tricky through their marked tendency to depart floorwards, though Sir has today invested in three new belts to alleviate the problem.

To be worn consecutively, rather than concurrently, one presumes...

                Probably.

                So now belt up eh?

Honestly, it really wasn't going at all badly. I was enjoying the delicate pastels of the silk cushions complementing the virulent magentine tones of Ms.Rantzen's jacket ... Until, that is, I noticed ...

                    THE SHOES !!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I'm a bit late, but it's taken me a long time to get dressed this morning, what with looking out the ensemble and making sure the tie is the right length.

Anyway, for my trip into town it's white socks, blue denim shorts, (for the legs; I can't do the other thing) green striped shirt, red paisley pattern tie, and a black denim jacket.

If I'm not arrested for outraging public decency I'll report back later.

PS: I must get a pair of shoes the colour of Esther's - very fetching.

Mention of Ms Rantzen's shoes (what was she thinking ) reminds me of a USA rule for women - never wear white shoes after Labor Day.

These rules sound terribly old to me -Does anyone remember 'U or non U' by one of the Mitfords ?

Blue and green look lovely if they are the right blue and green. Think of a green lawn and blue sky - they don't clash.

My other half wore suede shoes with everything but very formal wear. Why not ?

                            Shoes!

I met a Dutch girl with inflatable shoes last week, phoned her up to arrange a date,.....
but unfortunately she’d popped her clogs.

                            I'm here all day.

Oh yes I believe she took the idea from a scholarly serious article by someone else, whose name I have forgotten.
