Is there a number on the card to re-arrange delivery. There was one such scam where people were calling the supposed courier company only to be connecting with some huge premium rate tarrifd'd number.
Strange goings-on.....

I've been out this morning and have discovered that the Royal Mail delivery was a large box from Amazon. Contents unknown. The Parcelforce delivery was a large box with "Belkin - Made in China" on the side. Belkin are known to me as makers of electronic apparatus, most commonly routers.
And that's as far as I've got. The goods will be returned to sender, and unless anything else happens, these events will need to be regarded as an unsolved mystery and part of life's rich tapestry.
Thanks to all for your suggestions and interest.
