Maybe I need to think about swapping out one of my selections for The Lark Ascending (no strict rules about what constitutes a concerto, I hope!).

Cousin often reminds me of my remark - it's a stage people go through with Tchaik.
I think that the Tchaikovsky violin concerto is currently out of fashion with many performers. I attend a large number of concerts and I cannot remember the last time I saw it in a concert programme. The violinist formally known as the 'Ice Maiden' told me that she no longer played it. Maybe the Russian virtuoso is fed up of playing it now that she can do what she pleases.

Having said that, I heard Zuckerman a week ago playing in Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh Festival. Probably the most gorgeous sound I've ever heard emit from a violin.
