I think most people go through different stages with Tchaikovsky.
Years ago I told a reli that he would get tired of him. Now I am back with him, realising that he is far greater composer than I thought and far more varied.
Cousin often reminds me of my remark - it's a stage people go through with Tchaik.

I dunno. I guess appreciation all boils down to taste and temperament in the end: Borodin to me was a finer orchestrator, harmonist and melodist, and more original thinker in terms of form than Tchaik, who always admitted that in his adaptations of sonata form in his symphonies, one could always detect the seams, except for in the Sixth.

Yes S_A Ilike most of the Five and have a little Borodin box with some fine recordings. The B minor symphony [no 2] is my favourite but there isn't as much to return to as with Tchaik.
I started with the ballets for years, as I'd seen them all in london by the time I was 15.
Anyway, mustn't mess about, waahing up awaits.
Hope all is well, sal
