To those remaining, I thought it worth bringing down fire and brimstone on myself to draw attention to Sir Donald Sinden's current series on London Theatres. Each programme lasts an hour and discusses the history of a different theatre each week, including interviews with some theatricals who have worked there - and sometimes film of those no longer alive. I have learned a great deal - and Sir Donald is a wonderfully OTT guide. Anyone with an interest in the theatre - and a lack of prejudice - would certainly enjoy it. I will not give links - those who might be interested know where to look.

Five left, I think:
Noël Coward Theatre, Palace, Piccadilly, Prince of Wales, St Martin's. (I had never heard of the Noël Coward, but I see it's the old Albery.)

There have been some surprising events linked to the same theatre, such as, in the case of Her Majesty's Theatre this week, the first performance of 25 Handel operas, the death, on stage, of Tommy Cooper - and 26 years of Phantom of the Opera.

I love Tom Stoppard's story relating how Harold Pinter angled for the Comedy Theatre to be renamed in his honour, to which Stoppard retorted, 'Wouldn't it be easier to call yourself Harold Comedy?'
