However he was more renowned for his disciplinary record. He once said that after committing a foul in a game the referee came over and said, 'It's Ok, I took the precaution of putting your number in the book before the game!'...or something to that effect. During his Buddies' career he amassed 56 yellows and 4 reds, and the corresponding quota of suspensions. Don't we just love 'em? At 34 his contract's up with the Buddies and he now seeks pastures new; no word who the lucky team will be...maybe the reason Mahrez ran from St Mirren was that Big Jim was after him!

Congratulations to Leicester, and so pleased for Alison.
Like most footy fans, I have been thinking about this for a while, and I really do think this is probably the greatest sporting achievement, certainly in team sport, in my lifetime.( Although Cloughie's lifetime achievements were very special too.)
As Beefy! says , a fairy tale, and hopefully the start of a new era of success being more widely spread around.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

I don't follow the footy - horse racing's my game - but I can recognise a winner when I see one. Well done, Alison. Won myself a nice wodge of cash on the 2000 Guineas last Saturday but hope you've won more! Boxed sets all round then!"The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

Fantastic news for a low cost team managed by someone who has accurately been described as gentle and principled plus he has a sense of humour.
Even if it is just for one year, this is a victory against hard nosed modernism. Congratulations to Alison and all Leicester City and football supporters.
