I do enjoy your updates on the Scottish game, JC, but I have to google such a lot to get the full meaning.

anyway, good luck to the Scottish Saints and the other board teams this weekend.

Well, Exeterians, you'll never get a better shot at glory than this one!

Thistle has had literally more nicknames than major trophies in its 140-year history ... The Jags , The Harry Wraggs and, the one I like best of all, The Maryhill Magyars ... and, maybe inevitably from opposing fans, The Whistle.

And fans flock to Firhill from around the world, sometimes in the most exotic outfits ...

They're the Kelvinside branch of the Maryhill Magyars, PG - just here for the Banter!

Actually there is a sketch where Gary and James extol the virtues of the Harries, but I couldn't find it on YT. Goalfree first Hoff, by the way!

And there was I, a lifelong non-better, almost tempted by odds of 4-1 on Liverpool to win and 4 or more goals in the match
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

                            Poor John.

Do the Scottish teams play weakened sides in the Cup?

Yes, and Scotland is proudly unique in that its clubs always somehow manage to field the world's top weak sides in all other competitions as well.

There are weakened sides and 3rd 11s. Does the squad of 25 not apply these days. It was noticeable the squad nos in the 50s! I know Liverpool has injury problems but maybe Klopp could learn something about squad rotation - I don't doubt their individual skills as players but they were not a 'team'. They got away with it against a lower mid-table Div 2 side. That side may not have been so fortunate against a decent Championship side.
