Remarkable - and Tim Vickery in the early hours reminding us that Vardy was in non-league football just four years ago and that this is all being achieved at the advanced age of 28. An extraordinary story. Also of interest was the noting by Vickery, who has to be the pundit of pundits, of comments - from the current manager of Brazilian club Corinthians, I think - about one of the secrets to Alex Ferguson's success at Man Utd. After a relatively poor season, most managers discard players and buy in. But when there has been a very successful season, they do their utmost to keep the squad together. Ferguson did the opposite. Discard and buy in after a successful season to compensate for complacency. When there has been a poor one, stick with what you have to show the players that they retain your faith. Interesting stuff - and also useful for not noting the York City scoreline today.
