France or Germany? .... sentiment dictates France but ...

Brazil or Columbia? ..... Columbia for me but the Host Nation thing is important especially given that that is Brazil ...

Argentina or Belgium? .... No question! Belgium!

Netherlands or Costa Rica .... Los Ticos! [no army no war]

So glad to see the Belgians eventually prevail against the hard working US team...but really for a tournament that has boasted so many goals I have been mightily disappointed in the finishing - the Belgians should have been out of sight in about 15 mins...likewise the Algerians - I don't want to watch a 120 minute game even if last night's extra time was pretty good. I think the pundits like the thought of new TV work ops opening in US, thus their unwavering support of the team.

Anyway I still think France have the strongest defence and a good attack so have to go with them; unfortunately for Colombia, I think Brazil are improving into the tournament (except Fred) and think they might shade it; I have to think Belgium if only because they have so many options off the bench; and finally, I hope that being given their underdog position back, Costa Rica might cause the real shock, but they'll have to defend well to do it.

As it said in my paper this morning: They'd do better picking Wilma.

What do World Cup fans do on their days off...? Ran a few errands, put out the recycling before midnight for a change, got rather drunk over Sea Bass & Chips, watched Life of Pi for the 2nd time, and cried even more - oh god it's wonderful! - and really is better twice! "And so it goes with God" ... is there a more perfect line in any film?

So - chilli & big film tonight ... toss-up between 2nd-viewings of Frozen or Black Hawk Down... helluva choice, right? Hoo-ah or Let it Go...

                    No?

Oh well back to Wiki and using my own ears !!

Agreed jayne! It prompted me to start a thread way back

And I did go the second time, as I said I might in the first post in that thread. It's... well, read that post!

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Yeah... if we met I'd stare at the floor, abashed at just how many Southampton players our Mr. Rogers is mining out of your ranks... are Saints an unofficial Reds nursery, or what?!
Fantasise about buying James Rodriguez with the takings from Suarez... prob. also on his way to Spain by now though... how about Quintero instead?

Anyway, enjoy it tomorrow - both games seem completely unguessable.

                          Hello there,

Currently back in Blighty on holiday so I've managed to see a few games recently. Back in China the kick off times were absurd - something like 1 a.m or 5 a.m. in the morning - clearly impossible on school days. Saw the England vs Italy game on i-player - but didn't bother with the rest. I thought the recent Belgium vs USA match was fabulous and I'm very much looking forward to the games tonight. Hopefully I can finally beat the jet-lag and not have to retire to bed at 8:30 p.m.

Germany to beat the French tonight I hope - and I'd like to see Colombia surprise the Brazilians.... (perhaps by coming on the pitch wearing kilts)

I'd love to see a Germany vs Holland final. We shall see

                          Best Wishes,

                          Tevot

Saints have reverted to red and white stripes, possibly to try to disabuse Liverpool of that idea.

Brazil. Because otherwise too many hearts would be broken and it's been the best world cup ever but I reckon Colombia will edge ahead
France. Because the alternative is Germany (whose team isn't much good I reckon)
Belgium. Because at the start I said I was backing Belgium and Argentina are a dysfunctional one man band.
Costa Rica. Because. And the Dutch always play dirty
