Anna - I guess living in Wales at the moment Cardiff or Swansea would be an obvious choice - Newport would be a good choice if you want to back a side that has seen the worst of bad times and now have returned to the league - maybe an interesting one to back. You also have Cornish links so an interesting non-league down-on-their luck side to follow might be Truro City or for a league side albeit over the Tamar but followed by many a Cornish supporter - Plymouth Argyle are hopefully a Phoenix shaking off the ashes. Then there may be other towns or cities in your life which may be important to you. Like ts, edge and jc hometown was my influence and I'm a lifetime Owl.

Oh well, why not? I always support the underdog!
Portsmouth is technically a suburb of God's own city of Southampton, so doesn't really count.

you are allowed three goes !!

I really wouldn't, you will regret it....plus board harmony needs to be considered.
Have you seen their "fans" ?

the very thought is making me feel and confused.

Well, discounting Welsh teams and my mother was born in Bedlinog (and yes, no-one knows where it is), my great-grandpa was a boiler maker for GWR in Swindon and my other great-grandpa was a silversmith in Bristol. I think I'll go with Bristol Rovers!! Swindon somehow seems a bit naff and Bristol is just over the bridge .....

ah yes, a proper team, with a proper song.

          Decades of hopeless underachievement.Perfect.

          Irene goodnight, Irene goodnight
          Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
I'll see you in my dreams

Sometimes I live in the country
          Sometimes I live in town
Sometimes I have a great notion
To jump into the river and drown

          Irene goodnight, Irene goodnight
          Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
I'll see you in my dreams

          Quit ramblin' and quit gamblin'
Quit stayin' out late at night
Stay home with your wife and family
Sit down by the fireside bright

          Irene goodnight, Irene goodnight
          Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
I'll see you in my dreams

I asked your mother for you
She told me you was too young
I wished to God I'd never seen your face
I's sorry you ever was born

          Irene goodnight, Irene goodnight
          Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
I'll see you in my dreams

I love Irene, God knows I do
I'll love her till the seas run dry
And if Irene turns her back on me
          I'd take morphine and die

          Irene goodnight, Irene goodnight
          Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
I'll see you in my dreams

You cause me to weep, you cause me to mourn
You cause me to leave my home
But the very last words I heard her say
Was "Please sing me one more song"

          Irene goodnight, Irene goodnight
          Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
I'll see you in my dreams

          Go with the Gas Heads.

Brilliant. you don't have to be self deprecating to support the Gas , but it helps !!

              get learning the song.
Bristol Rovers supporters sing the famous club anthem 'Goodight Irene' in the dying moments of the 1-0 victory over Swindon Town in April 2007. The win prove...

Went to choir practice (such is my selfless devotion to them even with Palace on the telly) and arrived in the pub afterwards just in time to see Zaha's second great goal and shout yee hahh very loud. Great to beat Brighton especially at their ground. Texted my daughter who I thought was there but she hadn't been able to get a ticket. Her reply was: "Love that boy!"

Congrats gurnemanz! Have to say I was surprised.

I see that Mancini has retired as manager of Man City! No show without Punch, as me old dad would have put it.

Man City seem to have done a 'Mark Hughes' again. The media knowing what was going on before the manager.

While in the now crazy world of football the sacking has come as no huge surprise, and no doubt Mancini will still be laughing all the way to the bank, it might have been a good idea to tell the sacked person before anyone else?

Even allowing for modern management, surely such a small touch of simple decency shouldn't be too difficult ...

I think he knew all right scotty - they must think they're in with a shout of getting Jose.

By the way, I was watching Stanley Baxter on Beeb 4 last night and had forgotten this rather fine bit of fitba' explanation.
