Well done hammers just won the play off final and are promoted ... but they do not look as if they can stay up ....
It does seem just that West Ham made it. Although I have a soft spot for Blackpool, it was West Ham who scored more points in the league; it was natural justice for West Ham to win the game.
Mind you, if "natural justice" were to be introduced, stadia belonging to Champions' League qualifiers would be excluded from holding the final in the relevant years. Had Munich won, Chelsea would have had every reason to feel disgruntled.
against a German team in Germany on penalties ....... sweet innit
Many Germans will have been rooting for Chelsea, like my wife who is German though not a Bayern fan (not really a football fan but likes to be partisan) and at the end I'm afraid we couldn't resist tuning in to German TV. There was Roberto di Matteo, giving an interview in fluent German.
Is that Roy Hodgson at Camp David; at the foreground of photo....
>>>against a German team in Germany on penalties ....... sweet innit<<<<....with a Spaniard, a Brazilian,a Ivory Coastonian, and 2 Brits....and a Czech saving....
Thanks Rob. I'm not overly optimistic as Luton won 4 and drew 2 of their 6 games in April. York did perform well against them earlier in the season. However, I worry about possible over-confidence following the FA Trophy win.
Luton have several grudges including being beaten by York in the 2010 semi-final play-off and being knocked out of the FA Trophy by York in the semi-final this year. They also lost at the final hurdle last year so they will be very determined.
I was actually at the 2010 play-off final at Wembley in 2010 when York lost to Oxford and also at the one in 1993 when York beat Crewe. The 2010 play-off was disappointing but accepted with good grace.
If we win this one, I just hope that there won't be a repeat of the 2010 semi-final when York fans had coins and bottles thrown at them by Luton supporters. Local coverage is here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/england/yo...rth_yorkshire/.
