well Benitez was sacked and Hodgson appointed and then Dalglish replaced Hodgson and Hodgson replaced the sacked Di Matteo who wound up at Chelsea; West Brom Liverpool and Chelsea are all pretty much in the league positions their sacked managers would have achieved but Chelsea are doing better than expected in the EU and FA Cups .... and Fulham seem to have come out of it best except for Everton who will never sack the manager as long as it is Moyes ...

Well, i would put Roberto and Brendan (Rodgers) as possible outsiders. I would think Liverpool fans will be expecting a big international signing following this ... but, nothing would surprise me, really, these days ... it could even be Martin O'Neill, whose name has long been linked with Liverpool?

er i know that this is, as they say, parochial, but any views on Roy H squad choices?

never understand why Lennon is out of favour and why do they not like Micah R?

Several of my favourite players {SNORE ^**¬¬(>**}....Glen [accident waiting to happen] Johnson....Stuart [did something once] Downing....Theo [Billy Whizz Whuzzz]Walcott....

Will we once again see Gerrard and Lampard in same team....

Micah R....should have been in team....[some underlying injury perhaps?]....

All them attacking wing backs and wingers....BetFred odds on the number of decent crosses....(I go for #14 in group stage)

unless there are things we don't know, its an uninspiring list.

We are relatively blessed with wide players..but how anybody can thing that Downing is worth a place is beyond me.Adam Johnson or Lennon may be right sided, but are far better..and the Ox could play on the left.

Crouch should be a no brainer..he is a good footballer with a proven record. I can only imagine that Hodgson thinks we have enough class on the flanks to feed carroll some tempting crosses...but Crouch would be the better option.
Richards is better than Johnson, even if he can't get in the citeh team.
Lescott..Hopeless. Baines...lets just hope he doesn't get exposed to the best in Europe !!

Roy just may be able to conjour something out of this lot...but we really have to play to our strengths, and hope Rooney is nice and fresh.
Sadly, watching England is a very trying experience.....now where is that Domino's pizza "Euro 2012"special offer leaflet ?

I shouldn't think that El Uno Speciale be coming to Anfield?

Considering his own reaction today to his sacking, King Kenny must have got one heck of a good deal as compensation ... am I the only one to feel he never looked particularly happy in the job anyway (apart from when Liverpool scored)?

Possibly because Lennon has no final ball and Richards can't even get in his club team! Having said that, with Walker injured, I'd have taken him.

With the city gloomily abuzz with Dalglish's departure, I read more of Guardian Sport today and came across this gem from Barney Ronay:

"...Carroll, an extreme if highly specialised talent, who for much of his first season at Liverpool has worn a wounded look of majestic primal confusion, like Tarzan in the city, baffled on a daily basis by elevators, turn-ups, knives and forks, and yearning instead to leap and soar and bellow unhindered."

Never mind le mot juste, it's an entire just sentence.

I yearn for the days when football commentary went like this.............

                                "Bremner................Giles.............to Lorimer.....................Clarke................ .....ONE NIl. !!!

Psycho babble round football does my head in, so I usually turn the sound down and put some music on.
I have just thought.........for the euros, I may tailor it..............Some Elgar as our boys take the field, a little Polonaise or two when the poles are playing,..... you get the idea.
