    They were great.

At the time of the 1970 esso world cup medals, ( that would be 1970 !!) a friend's parents ran an Esso garage.....no problems completing the set for me !!
    That was lucky.

I got the full set of the badges and those coins (a bus driver jotted down my name and address so that he could send me the last coin I needed when he got it and he did get it for me). I have those sets. Unfortunately I think I am missing one badge and one coin because of moving houses so I might dig them out and see if I can get replacements on e-bay.

On that Glentoran badge, I liked the name. Rural. I don't recall the writing in French. It was, though, gold. I'm sure a gold anything at the time was a big thing. It has also got the colours I still often choose - red and green. It's neat. Almost streamlined. But also it was a picture of a football rather than anything else so it seemed more relevant than some of the others. I'd say that a lot of those ideas have been retained. I'd think much the same today re design. The picture in the link, though, makes it look a bit tatty which is a shame.

I hear that the chairman of The seagulls doesn't want the club to be promoted because the team haven't gelled enough and I think, more importantly they can't afford it?

One advantage of having Freesat rather than Freeview is the availability of BBC NI and BBC Scotland along with S4 Cymru. I don't do this so often nowadays, but being able to watch a Welsh game on TV of a Saturday afternoon was quite fun, especially if the venue was particularly rural or otherwise idiosyncratic (eg the Airbus UK pitch next to the airfield at Broughton).

Of course all of the channels or at least their football can be tracked down via iPlayer or All4.

So Chris Hughton might get sacked if they go up?

the only decent explanation for a drubbing at Forest these days.

              As John McEnroe said...
If that is the case I think his job is in greater danger than Chris Hughton's. If they've spent on players now they can't afford not to go up - much as I would happily swap league positions with them it's not going to happen - it is a blip - Newcastle who appear to be soaring have had their blips too - not least to have been beaten twice by low-flying Blackburn.

Rob, update the Arsenal result please - it’s still showing the first leg result of 5-1.
