Oh my goodness. But something had to change.
I find myself in the awkward position of agreeing with the decision.

It was that Swansea game. The lack of any sort of creativity, or even fight, in a match that forumistas had designated 'massive' was so painful to watch.

I don't think last nights result really masked the dire straits we find ourselves in.

Yes, but.... well, I would have given him the 2nd leg against Sevilla, at least...

Could be too late by then dear.

At least we've got March and April to turn it around.

After your lot have done us in on Monday!

Oh harsh Alison,it's like being sacked at half time.
Yes I was shocked by the lack of commitment in the Swansea game but by all accounts (I didn't see the game)some of the old Leicester fight was back in the 2nd half in Seville.
Surely he deserved at least the 2nd leg ?
There's no guarantee the new man (Mancini ?) will keep them up.

Pardew got sacked - may well have been deserved but Big Sam has yet to weave any magic for Palace. At least Pardew was our man. Only consolation: from now on it can hardly get any worse.

Turning round a long trail of non-achievement is never easy and the presence of recalcitrant big earners doesn't help.

                Shocking.

But at least all of the idle money grabbers from the boardroom to the field have saved him the indignity of being relegated with them.

More Aston Villa than Newcastle next year, I reckon, and I will now simply be flicking back my hair nonchalantly when it happens.

Thanks for the round-up, Rob. Newcastle's comeback and Brighton's victory will play well in Bbm's ward this evening.

Saints managed 3 victories in 3 weekends - crackin' win today.
May the best team manage to win the Milk Cup tomorrow. Have a great day out, sainty!

By the way I like the sound of the Solihull Moors.

Crucial win for Palace - not just three points but something to revitalize the home atmosphere. I was out and about yesterday afternoon neurotically checking progress via mobile and dreading that we would throw it away at the end as has happened so often this season.

I think Leics-Liverpool is far less predictable now though - remember how the Chelsea players reacted once Mourinho was gone last season? Uh-oh... If you'd asked me a few days ago if Ranieri should go, I would have said not sure, just as long as it's AFTER our match...

Re Champions League - I already had BT Broadband so I get a very generous deal (at the last renewal I was surprised to see the standard cost!), but OF COURSE some of it should be free-to-air. As a footballing spectacle it's arguably better than the World Cup or the Euros now, especially the knockout stages.

Southampton were robbed. Disgraceful decision from the linesman, and how the hell couldnt the referee see who scored the goal? We need playback monitors. Southampton created many more chances and deserved to win.

I was watching from a pub in Yeovil in the company of offspring, which prevented my voicing my opinion of that one in the terms I would have chosen. I can't recall a luckier or less deserved final win.
