storming finish and a great equaliser from the Buddies.

a match notable for a record number of players called Baird on the pitch, I would think.

Are you sure about that? I recall him being out with a broken leg for several months at that time.

Yep,made his debut and scored against Hartlepool at the end of the 50/51 season (before my time).
Arsenal paid SCFC £10,000 for him in 1954.

I was surprised David Herd only had 5 Scottish Caps, and all before '62. I used to think he was a really good footballer, but perhaps at a time when Scotland had a lot of very fine footballers and there was often preference for Scottish based players (Old Firm mostly). I suppose he'd have been up against the likes of Crerand, Law, John White, Ian St John for a place. I liked this one about him. 'On November 26 1966, Herd scored against three different Sunderland goalkeepers in the same match. Regular keeper Jim Montgomery went off injured and was replaced by John Parke and then Charlie Hurley. Herd scored four in United’s 5—0 victory.' RIP

...and The Buddies have a new manager with Jack Ross coming from Alloa to the Paisley 2021 Stadium. It would be good to have one successful enough to get to hang around for a while.

I notice he has the honour of playing for both the Buddies and Hartlepool, Alison.

Thanks Alison - delighted and hoping this transfers to league form - Irn Bru Cup has thrown up an interesting headline up here.

Heard the one about the Scottish club playing a Welsh side based in England?
The New Saints were playing Forfar yesterday in the last 16 of the Irn Bru Cup alongside another couple of Welsh and Northern Irish teams.

                                Bring back the Texaco!
