Let's face it, a football manager's job nearly always ends in failure.

I work a rotten tomato's throw away from the Derby County ground at Pride Park and they don't half get through some managers, most of them failures from elsewhere! Already imagining the office conversation tomorrow morning.

At least Big Sam has an unsurpassable 100% win record as England Manager...

My friend George is just back from a week in Barcelona. A Scouser and Everton supporter, he also uses an electric wheelchair, and travelled with two friends - his carer, and carer's wife. While said wife went shopping, carer wanted to see the Nou Camp stadium (George had been before). They got passes online, and turned up - to find long queues, as it was the day new player Paco Alácer was being presented to the crowd. George (who speaks excellent Spanish, he and I did OU Spanish together years ago) asked an official if they could avoid the queue. The official whisked them to a side door, down some corridors and into a tunnel....glimmer of light at the end, yes, they were on the pitch! And not only that, right where a TV presenter was warming up the crowd. Presenter sticks microphone in George's face, asks him who he is - George says in his best Spanish that he's from Liverpool, Everton supporter, on holiday, etc. - presenter repeats all this to the crowd, crowd goes wild, George is interviewed live on TV.....then new player Paco is presented to the crowd (and given an Audi car as a welcome gift). Paco shakes hands with the line-up on the pitch including George, gives George a football (they later get a carrier bag for it from the stadium shop)....George is the toast of their hotel when they get back. A heavily edited clip of the proceedings here - you get the briefest glimpse of George at 4.38
