Congratulations to Chelsea, who played some of the best football I've ever seen in the Premiership until the New Year, when CL pressures and injuries (Fabregas looked fatigued & faded, and they had to use the crucial Costa very sparingly) forced them into a certain parsimony. But if you're THAT many points clear with 3 to play it's not just by "parking the bus", or the other teams failings! And there was never a truer player-of-the-year than Eden Hazard.
Ironically, the most exciting game I've seen this season involved Les Bleus - but it was Chelsea 2 PSG 2 (aet), when they couldn't find the gearshift into a more positive, less niggling, approach... and exited on away goals.
Mourinho's close season purchases will be interesting... but for now, looking forward keenly to the CL semis - Barca v Bayern - wow!

The Premiership has seen some amazing football, especially 2000 - 2006. I guess you weren't watching, back then.

The team that impressed me more than any before or since was the Brazilian national team of the 1970 World Cup. Every player in that team was an outstanding footballer (and in Pele, they had one of the best of all time), and yet they combined wonderfully to play thrilling football. Of many great memories of their games, two stand out: the Gordon Banks save from Pele's header - I haven't seen a better save - and Pele's dummy round the goalkeeper in one of the group games, one of the wittiest and most outrageous tricks by any footballer. That is the kind of football to make the pulse race, not the tactical marshalling of impenetrable defences.

Well done Leicester yesterday, they wanted it a lot more than we did.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.
