John Hughes wins PFA Scotland manager of the year after guiding Inverness to currently third and the Scottish Cup final.

Does that count as one for the trophy cabinet, Rob?
    Yes indeed John.

Congratulations to Chelsea, who played some of the best football I've ever seen in the Premiership until the New Year, when CL pressures and injuries (Fabregas looked fatigued & faded, and they had to use the crucial Costa very sparingly) forced them into a certain parsimony. But if you're THAT many points clear with 3 to play it's not just by "parking the bus", or the other teams failings! And there was never a truer player-of-the-year than Eden Hazard.

Ironically, the most exciting game I've seen this season involved Les Bleus - but it was Chelsea 2 PSG 2 (aet), when they couldn't find the gearshift into a more positive, less niggling, approach... and exited on away goals.
Mourinho's close season purchases will be interesting... but for now, looking forward keenly to the CL semis - Barca v Bayern - wow!

(Alison... keep going Foxes, keep going...)

        What!!!???

The Premiership has seen some amazing football, especially 2000 - 2006. I guess you weren't watching, back then.

          Southern League play off final.

Truro City 1 St Neots Town 0. Penalty sealed the win,Truro promoted to the Conference South,or National League 2 as I believe it will be called next season.

Arsenal doing Leicester a big favour as it stands this evening.
A great result for City topping off a great 2nd half of the season. Another board success.

I fell in love with the Italian national side in the late 60s and early 70s - you can see that template (not to mention later, more successful, if no less controversial versions) in the present Chelsea approach, for good and ill...

But I guess you weren't born back then...

The team that impressed me more than any before or since was the Brazilian national team of the 1970 World Cup. Every player in that team was an outstanding footballer (and in Pele, they had one of the best of all time), and yet they combined wonderfully to play thrilling football. Of many great memories of their games, two stand out: the Gordon Banks save from Pele's header - I haven't seen a better save - and Pele's dummy round the goalkeeper in one of the group games, one of the wittiest and most outrageous tricks by any footballer. That is the kind of football to make the pulse race, not the tactical marshalling of impenetrable defences.

The thing about the Pele dummy, even though he didn't score (and to an extent that didn't matter anyway), was that I have never seen it repeated...for me one of the truly great footie memories.

                  Tuesday.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2 Dundee United 1. Look set to seal 3rd place finish.

And talking of good teams to watch, breathtaking Barca this evening,Bayern playing their part too, what a game this is.

Gary Neville just called it a very special match, indeed so.

Last night's win by Motherwell officially relegates the Buddies - interesting to see who has been voted St Mirren Player of the Year. Nice story hopefully with a good result.

                          Come on Leicester.

Sainty has had his thrills with the Philharmonia Mahler 10 on Thursday.

                          We need the points.
