Where do your family and chums live? If they live outside of NE/NY then it's just a matter of preference rather than being loyal to the home team. With American football it sometimes boils down to the star quality of the quarterback, one could be either Tom Brady fan (Patriots) or an Eli Manning fan (Giants). At anyrate, the rivalry between Boston and New York goes back a long way.

It certainly was a dramatic endgame, even though I didn't watch it!

Az and Ca marthe .... just preferences not tribal loyalties unlike my feeling for les bleus [chelsea soccer team] which was established in childhood with paternal and peer support!

I take it "peer support" is south london shorthand for " a good hiding if you even think about supporting another team" ? !!

milestones museum is ok if you like C20 nostalgia. There is an ice skating rink and er..........lots of fellow chelsea fans if you are that way inclined. (a fair few Saints also !!)

Actually the Anvil has some decent concerts I think (never been there).

But, as you suggest, It wouldn't be my first choice for a place to lay my head !!

If you like ring roads, lots of retail parks, and a fast train line out of town, its deffo the place for you !! And its quite near to Bracknell and Farnborough......Result !!

Looks like the Owls can now forget the toffee and concentrate on the league and the long return to the promised land!

Back in the 1960s I worked and then studied in Southampton, and have continued to follow the club's fortunes. I think they are to be congratulated on having the sense to be knocked out of the FA Cup ('The Competition Fans Love To Shun') in order to concentrate on what's really important, namely promotion. I once attended an England Under-23 International against Yugoslavia at The Dell. The manager cunningly included Martin Chivers in the starting line-up, thus guaranteeing a full house. I still have the ticket stub - being a special fixture, prices had been increased, but I was happy to stump up my 7/6 (37.5 p). If memory serves, England won 2-0. What is now on the site of the old ground, by the way?

well we can focus on the League or find that the Cup is a wonderful challenge etc .... they are not cliches .... these narratives of despair are the very essence of the game eh ....
