Gold stars to Lovren - huge defensive gain for us, Allen and Henderson in the engine room...Moreno making up brilliantly for his costly sideswipe against City... I loved Brendan's grin after Balotelli had pulled his longrange goalie-out effort wide. Says SO much...

This was a very important win for us, you don't want to be 6 points off the lead even this early.
I do hope Balotelli comes good, for his own likeable sake and for ours. And because he loves cats.

Note to Dan Sturridge: stop trying to curl them in! You're no good at it yet.

quite why the likes of united, in fact especially united, don't seem to have been battering our door down for Lovren is well beyond my understanding.
The only centre half we have ever had who I would choose above Lovren is Mark Wright, (as we didn't have Dave Watson at perhaps his very best).
He does have the odd off day, which I put down to him being human. Hopefully (for the Reds) they can cope with his ego. I'm sure they have seem worse on that front , though.

Yep,just to cross the thingies and dot the other thingies.

Super Liverpool putting Tottingham in their place to the tune of 3-0.

A special mention for Leicester City's well deserved point at home to Arsenal,1-1.

I have an irrational dislike of Leicester and always hope they will lose. Today against Arse was strangely no exception, even though I usually support an underdog. I think it is based on a match we attended many years ago when they beat Palace and which I have almost completely forgotten, except that Emile Heskey and Steve Claridge were playing and that they were promoted and we weren't.

A last minute winner from Claridge at Wembley to take Leicester into the Premier League? I was there!

Leicester had their turn at losing play off finals with a defeat to Swindon being particularly painful.

that really applies at any time Alison.

sadly we had a run of about 4 defeats by the in L1.......with Charlie Austin the main destroyer.

Anyway, a terrific result for Sgt Major Nige's lads today.

is McGoldrick still due to sign?

              Most Stockport fans dislike Burnley.

We were beaten by them in the 1994 division 2 play off final, which was a bad tempered affair.
David Elleray (remember him?) sent off two of our players and should really have sent off at least one of theirs.
The teams haven't played each other that often since then yet the anti clarets chants are still heard at every game.

Saints fans are a very nervous lot at the best of times, and after this summer.....suffice to say, the biggest fans forum is getting more hits than during the biggest games.

Looks like we may buy and sell some players.

                  Or not.

Wellbeck looks a good buy for Arsenal if they get him.

Nobody in our out at Edgeley, Rob?

I know it's a bit sad but I do enjoy this day.

Esteban Cambiasso is quite a signing for your club Alison.

                          McGoldrick?

Hmmm...played a lot for us during our relegation from the Championship season. Decent skillful Championship striker, and did well in a poor side, but an £8m PL player? I would be surprised if he made it in the PL to be honest.

Two in and one out at Saints. The hugely talented but underachieving Gaston Ramirez out to hull.

points against everton and arsenal are great signs, Alison. The wins will come.

Every point is like gold dust in your first season in the PL.

Re McGoldrick, I actually like him, entertaining player to watch, but the £8m price tag is a sign of a crazy market !!

Cambiasso should be very handy indeed in the tougher fixtures.
