Sorry to intrude on grief but he's been doing it to PL defences all season, so no real surprises there. That's what you call a truly world-class footballer.
Of course , those within reach of the capital could have spent the evening hearing a live rendition of the ist edition of Bruckner 8
Oh well there's always next time.....
I saw no mention of it being the 1887 version (as edited by Nowak) in the pre-concert Barbican publicity. Had I done so (early enough), I might have attended.

Well that got Bryn on the footy thread which is surely a first !!
TBH I had no idea which edition/ revision it was, either, as info seemed scarce beforehand, as you suggest.
However the programme says it was the 1887 first edition, ed Nowak 1972.
From the same source with a smaller round ball - the "surely he's Scottish" batsman Alec Stewart scored 8,463 test runs - he was born on 8th April 1963..........

I guess I'll end up following Italy again, my official 2nd team since Italy 4 W.Germany 3, semi-final, Mexico 1970... I do love the way they play...
I'm trying to suppress all hope of mathematical-possibility, coincidental-result miracles... but you know how it is...
Gah! They couldn't even do us the favour of beating Costa Rica... who are now on somewhat of a roll, and are going to slaughter us.
Where is Costa Rica anyway?

In Salisbury its just next to Debenhams.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
Luis S and Stevie G, both...
Poor, poor Stevie, and after Chelsea and Demba Ba...? I scarcely know what to say or what to feel...

Love the way they play...? Love the way they - ?! Who on earth wrote - oh. I did... I've seen most of Italy's finals games since 1970, but I don't think I've seen them play worse than they did against Costa Rica. They exited, in a frantic English fashion, at the group stage in 2010... which Italy will turn up for Uruguay on Tuesday? Ooh, take-no-prisoners in that one. 9-a-side stuff there.
I was all set to describe "bad-boy Balotelli, a mischievous Dionysus who prangs Porsches and cuddles kittens... light the blue touch paper and pass it to Balotelli...!"
Today he looked like a petulant brat.
It's little consolation even to Liverpool fans to see Suarez playing like this. Well, maybe a bit. Actually, I'm cheering up already.
I keep thinking of Candreva-Balotelli for the 2nd against us, how England's defenders always seemed 2 or 3 thoughts behind the opposition...
Not as if Italy or Uruguay, Pirlo or Suarez are unknown quantities is it? Seven months to plan for them... and Costa Rica beat them both.
Well, we know our place. When Glen Hoddle commented grimly after Uruguay's route one winner, "you won't see another goal like that in this World Cup", I thought, you're so right. In fact there was an almost identical goal tonight, given away by... Ecuador.

I would readily replace Hodgson a with your good self ...
Sorry to disagree with you anton, but Roy could never take the place of Jayne on this here board...and Jayne, I thought the very same about the Honduras goal. France look pretty good...organised at the back, speedy at the front.

England managers seem to age just as rapidly as English Prime Ministers**, so, no thanks....
Wall chart, Edge? I never even began to fill mine in... clinging to some vestige of "superstition"...
Better go and keep tabs on Argentina. They've GOT to liven up soon, surely...
**perhaps none ever quite so tragically as poor Ally Macleod, though... yikes.

.....TIck tock....tick tock.....
Got to happen soon.......tick tock.......
blimey.....it kept ticking and tocking just long enough.
superb effort from our new friends......
I've missed quite a few of the matches but saw the second half of Germany v Ghana, it was so exciting and I'm sure I wasn't the only one willing Ghana to get another goal to get a win over Germany rather than a draw .... they never stopped attacking. I'm also very pleased about Costa Rica, in fact the World Cup is only interesting when there are upsets (like Spain being knocked out)
Meanwhile Rooney says England might have to become more cynical to win the World Cup. “I think you look at teams who have won the tournament over previous years and you can see that nastiness in them,” he explained. “I think we need to get that in us. Maybe we’re too honest, I feel, as a team. So I think, in terms of Uruguay the other night, they stopped the game, they committed I don’t know how many fouls. Clever fouls, really, to slow the game down. I think we’re a bit honest in terms of the way we play"
So is honesty not the best policy when it comes to winning matches?
