Find myself in the unusual position of being a wee bit happy about England's position. I think Hodgson is a decent realistic manager. He makes the most of what he has and organises his teams to do that well. That's an underrated skill. I certainly wouldn't feel this way if it was Rednapp in charge, and maybe part of it is as much that it puts one over on Harry for his recent snidey book promoting comments.
Great result from Strachan and his boys at Hampden last night - too little too late - hope it's a good sign for the future.

Reason: ...can't believe I just said that!
I thought Wellbeck was a bit of a hero....clattering about, covering ground, causing 2 Poles to mark him ....injured most of the 2nd half....(My kind of player)
....is there a website where you can find out how far each player ran....
I did have a lot of misgivings when Hodgson was put in charge of the England Team. having said that, from what I have read(as I couldn't bear to watch :)). I have seen what a great tactician this man is. he has managed to galvanise from the players he has, and totally utilised their skills. Top man!

Very generous of you, JC !!
Great to see WGS weaving his magic up there. I would love to see him get your boys back into contention. He was a great manager for us, and its high time Scotland stopped messing around and started being a bloody nuisance again, like the old days.!! (and started sending good players down here too !!)
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

The generosity stops here, southern sainty. I shall doubtless revert to my default position of supporting two teams - Scotland and whoever is playing Engerlan'!
We've got a few decent players there just now and our first 11 is not bad - Naismith had a crackin' game on Tuesday. Could do with the two Fletchers being fit and it was Levein's fall out with Steven F that really began the downfall in this campaign - managers need to be able to mend bridges and levein couldn't bring himself to do it. WGS has been great so far - I love his relationship with the media - he knows how to do it...and like Roy H seems to have the team playing for him. Shame we have to wait a year till the next Euro starts for us - but we could be coming back to more than nuisance value shortly.
One final thing about the England team - I think they may well benefit from not being a seeded team in the Rio draw - I think they will be seen as a team that others want to avoid...well, apart from Germany. Personally I'd want to avoid Belgium - from what I've seen, they are potential winners of the tourament if they can handle the pressure.
...and by the way I haven't heard the one about the monkey and the astronaut!
Congratulations to Ingerland! Seriously, well done to RH and the lads. There is no reason why they shouldn't do well in Brazil with the talent available.
As for Scotland v Croatia... which naturally was my game of choice ... I confess to being utterly astounded. I have never seen a Scottish side play with such professionalism and even, for goodness sake, no little technical ability. Apart from one silly stray-pass error they never even looked like conceding a goal.
Strachan has inherited probably the most individually ordinary group of international players in Scottish football history and yet has fashioned them into a team which work for each other and which has already proved it can compete with the best. Even when losing to Belgium I thought there wasn't that much between the two sides apart from Belgium having that little bit extra class.
It is a quite amazing turnaround, which can only be put down to the new coach. Let's just hope it lasts for the Euros!
