Yes, well, Alan Smith is sensible and dignified. Shame he isn't a manager. But he doesn't mention the long-term roles that Pat Rice, Liam Brady and Martin Keown have had. Denis Bergkamp is Assistant Manager at Ajax, Henry is in New Jersey committing the cardinal sin of trying to promote football in America and Tony Adams is currently steering Gabala FC to second place in Azerbaijan's early season. As for Charlie George and Paul Merson! Maybe it is time for all the past heroes to get back to reality and help the loyal and decent Mr Wenger.
Incidentally, they would do better by having a majority of players from just one country. Ireland or France preferably. I originally thought of Arsenal as Irish. Later they were French. It worked for me. I could feel as if I was in a different country as a supporter which is precisely what I wanted. It was always "anywhere but here" even as a child. But now they are everywhere and I can't keep up with it.
