a decent start for your lot, in what is a really tough league. (should be three up from the bSQ in my opinion).

Even England's 1966 World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore, who turned tackling into an art form, would fall foul of modern referees, former Chelsea defender Ron Harris said yesterday.

Yes, because Asia is where the real non-borrowed money is these days, certainly not Manchester or fur-coat-and-no-knickers Wilmslow or even the rest of Europe and the USA, which as we all know are likely heading back into recession, unlike the Far East which is growing very strongly indeed (apart from Japan).

I also learned yesterday that United alone is reckoned to have around 300 million fans on that continent. China itself, with its mind-boggling population, has now become soccer-mad apparently and Singapore with it's relatively liberal trading laws is the best place in the world to do business of all kinds, I'm reliably informed.

So the choice does make quite a lot of sense ...

As a metrosexual man, David Beckham moisturises and tidies his eyebrows - and now it seems he's added shaving his legs to his list of girly goings on.

And Spurs have a game in hand, which theoretically could put Arsenal in the relegation zone. Van Persie vs. Doncaster?

                          We beat Fulham 2 - 1 today!!

Gawd! The Man utd and Arsenal match!I know that Wenger had a much depleted first team squad, but that's still no excuse for this humiliating result!

                          Are Wenger's days numbered?

......and my local team Brighton & Hove Albion are doing fantastic still! Must be the new stadium!

A very sad day for football. The day to start asking whether every 90 minutes could be replaced by a quick 30 seconds, ie. televise two sets of accountants putting their money on a table, then simply translate that into goals. Here is a 23 paragraph article about football. Players are mentioned in just one paragraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...al-future.html.

Is anyone in the country doing a PhD on what lessons can be learnt from football in England and Wales about the wider economy? Since the Premiership began has the gap between rich and poor narrowed or got wider? Two decades on, is the trend of the first ten years continuing? At what point does competition of this kind turn out to be the very opposite of an incentive to everyone to succeed? Is it not simply the guarantee of ending up with a new monarchy? How are the small businesses in the lower divisions doing and how many new ones are there? Where are we on job creation? What about the "schedule" and worries about elitism?

I admire Wenger very much. You can say that he should have bought more players but at 61 he is a man of the old school caught up in the new. With the move to the Emirates, the soul of the club was ripped from the community. I have been there perhaps on four occasions. My heart sinks with it every time. It is not as I knew it. It might as well be something else entirely.

You can only buy two kinds of jelly in supermarkets now. Hartleys and, on occasions if you are lucky, the supermarket's own brand. Football is going precisely the same way. Right now, Ferguson and Mancini are the kings of jelly.

Rather a sad day for West Brom too - the third in a row. Perhaps it's time we spent a bit of money on players for a change.
