As a Port Vale follower, obviously I'm philosophical.

Early pressure soon led to a goal for the Foxes but the Tigers right back in it at 1-1.

C'mon Leicester (and Arsenal).
I have a minor soft spot for Vale as a few well thought of Saints have pitched up there over the years. (Maskell, Knill.....)
Plus they were there at one of our real low points, a really dismal FA cup exit at their hands under Branfoot. Must be tough with Stoke enjoying such good days.
lets hope Alison gets the funds together for a really big accumulator next Saturday !
Edit, undeserved lead for citeh.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am frequently at SMS...you too? Enemy of the stoat(?) is one of us too I think, though he keeps himself to himself footywise. Ian Thumwood (?)is one too...
perhaps we are the board's best supported team?! That would be something !I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

rovers are one of my "watch out for" teams. Used to live quite near Bristol, and might take a turn down there occasionally if the Saints were away. Of the two, Rovers were always my preference....there was never anywhere quite the same as the Tote End !!I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. Nige was brought in round about January 2008, (IIRC) when we were just appalling...probably even worse than when we got relegated. By good old fashioned discipline type stuff he got us to the last day of the season needing to beat a very decent Sheff utd team to stay up, which we did in an amazing game.
Though he was hardly the new messiah, the fans took him to their hearts, as at least he seemed to be up for a fight, and to have basic principles right.
there was a boardroom takeover, and NP's face didn't fit...Rupert Lowe came back in and appointed two dutch chaps to guide what was basically our youth team in our resurgence....which ended , inevitably in the drop and administration.
He would get a good reception any day of the week at SMS...must feel at home in Saints and Leicester's identical stadia !!I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

The only time I have been to Southampton was for a 3rd round FA Cup match v Leicester in what
must have been 2008.
Ian Holloway had recently been appointed and even allowing for Championship survival being
the (ultimately doomed) priority, the Foxes put in a totally abject performance and lost (I think) 2-0.
Maybe Nigel was Saints' boss then.
Btw, which is Rob's team ? I've only rarely visited this thread !
