    imagine... - Summer 2013 - 7. Zaha Hadid: Who Dares Wins

    If for nothing else watch this because of Hadid's amazing sense of space, perspective and colour in her paintings....

    Thanks e-o,

    I have a natural aversion to Yentob, which has undoubtedly deprived me of experiencing some enlightening programmes in the Imagine series.

    Technology seems to advance and develop almost daily; surely there must be some way of airbrushing/nullifying this man's contributions?

      I cannot list my feelings re. this man in public without fear of losing tens of thousands of pounds in legal costs - so I say nothing.

      As I've said before, I was involved in the ' Monitor ' days & have a memory of how things were.

      Read the ' Radio Times ' to see how we are now - it's all there.

        Shake hands over Botney, gamba.

        I remember 'Monitor' well and there are some great clips in the BBC archive to remind/inform everyone what a remarkable programme it was.

        I'm sure that you must have some great Huw Wheldon stories

          I remember an Edinburgh Festival acquiring material for ' Monitor ' where Hugh Wheldon was around but was frequently being ' got rid of ' by encouraging him to take a/his dog for a walk in the park opposite. A number of quite important production staff were having such a good time, ( their first Festival ) programme making tended to take second place. This gave me the opportunity to make a few short films of my own. One, shown on the BBC Scotland channel later didn't go down at all well. I wonder why !! I had got a young ballet group & had them perform to the music from the last movement of Bartok's last ( no.6 ) string quartet. Not to the taste of the Scots at all !! ( not easy to dance to )

          There were classic comments by some very well -known people - one I cannot easily forget;
          " I had always wanted to be a sex maniac - but failed my practicals ! " ( the source will never be disclosed )

            Lovely stories gamba - many thanks

            He was from North Wales, as I am, and I've always been rather proud of him & his achievements at the BBC.

              Amateur 51,

              N. Wales to me is that beloved lump of rock called Tryfan & if I was feeling really energetic, the Snowdon Horseshoe ( or bits of it ! ).
