Or is it 'Au revoir' ? Remember 'Beyond the Fringe' ?
Said by Squadron Leader to Flight Officer Perkins:
"I want you to lay down your life, Perkins." "Right sir!" "We need a futile gesture at this stage. It will raise the whole tone of the war." "Yessir!" "Get up in a crate, Perkins." "Sah!" "Pop over to Bremen." "Yessir!" "Take a shufti." "Right sir!" "And don't come back." "Yessir" "Goodbye, Perkins. God, I wish I was going too." "Goodbye Sah! – Or is it au revoir?" "No, Perkins."

This seems as good a place as any.
Fans of my dog Harry (I know he has some)will be sad to hear that he has passed away.
He was put to sleep late on Saturday evening.
Nothing untoward was evident until midday on Saturday when I noticed he was quite lethargic and not himself, and so began a quite traumatic few hours.
I wont bore you with the gorey details so to cut a long story short turns out he was suffering from a ruptured splenic tumour .
The vet advised the kindest thing was to let him go as the chances of him fully recovering from possible surgey were slim.
'Being quicker to sense unhappiness
without having to be told the dreary
details or who is to blame,in dark hours
your silence may be of more help than many
two-legged comforters..... (Auden)
So I am thinking of taking a short time out,not much in the mood for banter and such like.
We are holidaying in Turkey from 10/8 for a couple of weeks I'll hopefully return here shortly after that with the new improved football results service and plenty of neglected British music.
I'll still be looking (for racing tips and symphonic journeys)but not touching.
I'll be back

Hi ER
really, really sorry to hear about Harry.
Take care during your break, and hope you can have a good holiday.
We'll keep the British music thread bubbling until you return.
(and I will do the results service as best I can).

Harry was a very beautiful animal Edge. I'm sorry he's gone and for your loss of him. The price of Love is Grief.
For a while we need to hold our Grief, to feel, remember, and understand the Love. For a while, the pain must follow the joy.
But -
Finally, he'll have brought far more joy than sorrow into your life, and many other lives.
